This new earthquake, whose epicenter is farther from the capital than that of September 19, magnitude 7.1, was felt in Mexico City but civil protection said it had deplored no immediate damage.
Luis Felipe Puente, who is responsible for civil protection, has tweeted that "no damage has been reported at this time.
In the capital, the search for survivors carried out relentlessly for four days had to be interrupted at the time of the alert, which pushed out of their homes many inhabitants. Some, still traumatized by the earthquake on Tuesday, did not hide their anxiety.
The alert was lifted in Mexico City just over an hour after the jolt.
The latest record of the earthquake on Tuesday reported 298 deaths, including 160 in Mexico City, 73 in Morelos State and 45 in Puebla. This earthquake occurred 32 years to the day after that of 1985, which devastated Mexico by causing more than 10,000 deaths, and up to 30,000 according to some estimates.
